The Joint Logistics Analysis Group (JLAG) conducts analysis on a wide range of logistics, combat support, and combat service support issues. JLAG analyses address both current operations and long-range planning activities covering operations from Forward Presence, Operations Other Than War, Small and Large Scale Contingencies, to Major Theater War. In addition to conducting independent logistics assessments, JLAG analysts contribute to logistics feasibility assessments that are part of Joint Campaign assessments.
JLAG analysts are involved routinely in the collection and manipulation of data and performance factors across all the Services and for selected multinational partners to construct a wide range of analytical tools for evaluation of key sustainment and force capabilities requirements. This effort includes all of the U.S. armed forces and key federal and multinational partners participating in U.S. military operations. JLAG analysts also use a spectrum of legacy analytical models and simulations to support sustainment, transportation, and force structure assessments. Major tasks include the following:
- Logistics feasibility assessments of operational and tactical level warfare operations
- Logistics Concepts of Support used in OPLAN assessments
- Logistics force structure assessments
- Inter- and Intra-theater lift evaluations
- Time Phased Force Deployment Data (TPFDD) development
- Materiel and services requirements generation at operational and tactical levels
- Materiel and services capabilities assessments
- Modeling and simulation of logistics in support of Military Operations Other than War (MOOTW)
- Data analysis and tool development for logistics assessments
A major part of the JLAG effort is in support of logistic issue examination and assessment efforts for Joint Vision 2010 and 2020. This evaluation process includes the Focused Logistics Warfighting (FLOW) series of exercises, Joint and Combined Force Wargame Support, and Integrated Logistics Assessments.
